The platform is specifically designed for individuals over the age of 18 who own or rent properties where safety and security are primary concerns. eCPTED analyzes information provided through a detailed questionnaire to generate scores across four core CPTED categories, as well as an overall CPTED score.

These scores are prominently displayed at the top of the application interface, with intuitive color coding—red, yellow, and green—to facilitate quick identification of areas requiring attention. The scores dynamically update in real-time as users submit additional answers, allowing for ongoing assessment refinement. Additionally, eCPTED assesses user input to identify potential enhancements that could mitigate the risk of criminal activity at the assessed location.

Upon completion of the questionnaire, users have the option to download or email a comprehensive CPTED report. This document provides detailed explanations of the four fundamental CPTED categories and offers tailored recommendations aimed at improving security. Users may generate multiple copies of this report for distribution or review purposes.

By leveraging the expertise of seasoned professionals with extensive CPTED and physical security experience, eCPTED democratizes access to expert analysis at approximately 1% of the cost associated with on-site security assessments conducted by consultants. This application is particularly valuable for individuals and organizations with specific physical security needs but limited budgets for comprehensive evaluations.

To utilize eCPTED, users must download the app, register their details, and purchase an annual site-specific license subscription. Licenses can be obtained for a single location or multiple sites, enabling assessment across large complexes or multiple properties operated by the user. Quantity discounts are often automatically applied based on the number of licenses purchased.

During registration and licensing, users input specific location details which are then permanently linked to that license; these cannot be modified thereafter. Users can revisit and update previous answers or perform reassessments for any licensed locations as often as desired within the subscription period—all at no additional cost. This feature supports tracking improvements over time and evaluating the impact of recommended security measures.

Furthermore, some users may be able to present the resulting CPTED report to their insurance providers as part of negotiations for potential premium reductions, thereby enabling the app’s benefits to offset its costs over time.
